Rob's articles on the playing style of various rock bassists have been published in Bass Musician Magazine. Rob regularly presents at conferences focused on popular music. His primary areas of research are the Beatles, the Grateful Dead, Phish, Peter Gabriel, and progressive rock.

Rob teaches music theory and rock 'n' roll history at Alverno College in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He earned a DMA in Composition at the University of Maryland. He holds a MM in Music Theory and Composition from the University of Louisville and a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Bellarmine University.
