Bootha Kola / nema is also known as the worship of Daivas or Bhootas or sathyas, it is an ancient ritual performed among the Tulu community in and around Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts in Karnataka.

The kola/ nema has 16 ritual followed by coming of ‘Bhandara’(the things which belongs to daivas), telling pad-danas which describes daiva's/ bhoota's story, putting on the aradala (make up), wearing the Gaggara, etc.

It is believed that during Kola/nema, for a fraction of seconds the Daiva’s Spirit comes into the person who is performing it. which is commonly told as mukkal-mooji-galige in local language . Kola/nema is performed with utmost respect and dignity.
